[bksvol-discuss] Re: submitted my first validation, hope it went through all right

Thanks Sue, and yes I can do that. I think the point I was trying to make is that I don't know how I lost those JAWS HOT KEYS so as a consequence I can't correct it. I, like some others on this list, have never had one on one training, picking up everything I know from tutorials or from others. That's why I value good tips so much. Hi Jill,

Have you tried going to your desktop and hitting ctrl-tab to get to the
taskbar, system tray, etc? Once you get in that corner you can tab to go
through the dialog boxes, and use the down arrow to see what is in the
systems tray.

Hope that helps,

Sue S.

Scott, The "skip to main content" link is one of the best tips for using
JAWS when on a web site that I have ever had; thank you so much. Where
should I be looking to learn tips like that? Right now, for instance, JAWS
is not reading such things as the time, system tray etc. I can't believe I
need to reload it but can't figure out what I have done to cause this to
happen. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Jill

Jill, I also only hear the word table, but if I navigate around i.e. use
arrow keys or other navigation quick keys, I can find the information
confirming my submission. Have you tried the arrow key method, or going to
the top of the page and hitting enter on the skip to main content link.
This link, located at the top of the page, will take you to the location
on the page where the pertinent information is located. Simply put, JAWS
will not always begin to read a page automatically.

Scott

I am using JAWS version 9; after I upload a book, the only thing I ever
hear, and sometimes not even then, is "table." I am no longer taken to the thank-you page. Is anyone else having this experience or what setting do I have wrong? It's not crucial as I can always go to the administrative list
if I have any doubt. Thanks. Jill

Hi, Jamie. Way to go on your first submission! (smile) You can tell if
your book uploaded correctly because you'll get a web page that thanks
you for submitting the book once it's uploaded. If you tell us which
book you've been working on, we can help you find it in the system.
Someone may already be validating it. Jill's idea about checking the
Books In Processing page is a good one. If you need any help locating
your book, just ask. Again, congratulations on your first submission,
Jamie. I'm looking forward to seeing it in the collection.
