Well, there is a work-around, if you have Kindle for the PC which just sux,
:) you can still get the kindle books into it's library, and then convert
them with that package at:
http://jscholes.net/project/codex/
and easily make them epub which can be read with Kurzweil, or your iPhone's
"voice dream reader," which imports epub just fine. The kindle reader,
though out of context for this list if I may mention it, kind of works for
iPhone, but not as well as an import of an epub or even another format into
text dream reader for the iPhone, or Kurzweil which you can use.
Of course, many of us use K1000 to scan books.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] some "Kindle" books I bought.
I have noticed that on Bookshare, Vicki Lewis Thompson's "Sons of Chance,"
series, the firse 3 books are not present. I bought them from Amazon for $4
each and have them on my Kindle for PC, and have converted them to Epub,
which easily convert to *.kes, (Kurzweil) files with bookmarks easily
converted to DAISY format.
Can I share them with Bookshare so others can read them?
