Subject: [sfclub] Next Meeting of the Science Fiction Club, Thursday, September
14, 2017
Hello Folks,
A good turnout at our most recent meeting with everyone having at least one
book to tell us about.
We’re maintaining the format we adopted in July, which asks people to bring at
least one book that they either loved or hated, or anything in between, which
they read recently or long ago.
Among the books people reviewed included but were not limited to:
Homecoming by Frederik Pohl, in which a human boy is raised by aliens, who are
not being entirely candid when they claim to be interested in helping humanity
when they bring him back to Earth.
Q-Squared by Peter david, a story which combines both the original and Next
Generation Star Trek series; a novel for true fans.
Why Call Them Back from Heaven? by Clifford D. Simak, in which a lot of people
are in cryonic suspension, but do they have the means to revive them? And what
is the big secret?
Change Agent, by Daniel Suarez, a hard SF thriller about genetic engineering in
the not too distant future.
The next meeting of the Science Fiction club will be on Thursday, September 14,
2017.]
Place, Book Nook at:
http://conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rs7867a2369e0e
Time: 9 PM Eastern, 8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific, and 1:00 UTC.
So come join us in September and bring a book to tell us about.
