Why aren't we allowed to self-validate? The instructions say it's not recommended, but that it can be done. However, when people do it, the book gets kicked back with the "do not self validate" comment. So hope it will go through. Laura Ann At 09:59 PM 10/23/2006, you wrote: yep Brian, That is basically the general premiss of things lately, smile. We have lots of books at our disposal that we didn't have before, and, we can submit and get put on the site any book that we want, not a book chosen by a volunteer, or by a committee. i would offer that you may want to go and validate some of those books if they have been there a long time, and you know they are readible. I plan on doing that to one of mine, if I find the time to get up there and do it. have two books languishing right now. But you have the right idea of what is going on at Bookshare. Shelley L. If books are only validated by volunteers outside the Bookshare organization, then we will all be at the mercy of the whimsy of those volunteers. I very much appreciate the work the volunteer validators do, but is it enough to rely on them? And then we have books that sit around for weeks even after they've been validated -- is Gustavo the only guy at Bookshare who can upload a book? This seems a very fine screen through which all must be filtered. Just some thoughts.
