Hi, Kenny. Yes, I'd try adjusting the settings to see if I can get a
better scan of that page. If you're using Openbook, there are a couple
of settings that are turned on when you first install Openbook that
should be turned off when you're scanning most types of books. I can
only describe this in Openbook 6 and 7 because I chose not to upgrade
to version 8. If you own Openbook 8, you may want to look for similar
settings to these. In case you haven't tried this, it may help you get
better results. In the settings menu where the scanning settings are
located, look for something that says de-speckle. This should be
turned off and only turned on if you are scanning newspaper print or a
hardcover book where there is a small decoration on the paper around
the print letters. In addition, unchecking the box for language
analyst will improve recognition if you're scanning most books. The
final setting you can experiment with is called something like light
text on dark background. It has a slightly different name depending on
the version of Openbook you're using. After unchecking the boxes for
these three settings, my scans improved markedly. I liked them so much
that I saved the settings as my default so I wouldn't have to remember
to change them each time I'd start a new scan. Hope this helps.
