4 days ago, I asked the people who write reviews to write synopses instead, so
I'm expecting reviews are now a thing of the past.

Dear Jamie, Bob, Cindy and Booksharian
Friends,

The copyright law hasn't changed, nor the Bookshare
policy. We've been told it's downright dangerous to disrespect the copyright
agreement Bookshare has established. What I suspect is that rapid approvals,
though we love them, mean staff has less time to catch these nonsynopses. It
doesn't take long to spot "Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, etc. It
worries me. I hope we don't get any negative fall out from this in the
future.

I also hope the volunteers who need it receive more
training or that their books are kicked back with instructions to write proper
synopses.

Always with love,

Lissi

Well, when I click on my absolute favorite link which is the books most read,
then I get the list of the top downloaded books, I had found several with
reviews and it would even say where the review was from, like School Library
Journal, Chicago Tribune, etc. I was curious about who was doing so many of
these so I clicked on the title and then clicked on the submitter's name and
it was a Benetech email address and if you looked at everything that person
had submitted, a majority of it had reviews instead of a
synopsis.

Jaya is the person with the Benetech email address:
http://www.bookshare.org/web/UserInfo.html?userid=33666

There was another person with an India email address who also had a great many
of his or her submissions with reviews instead of a synopsis as well.

That user submitted 153 books, you can see them:
http://www.bookshare.org/web/UserInfo.html?userid=31129
and about 20% of them use a quoted review instead of a synopsis so either or
both the submitter and validator are using reviews instead of a synopsis.

Even a book that Carrie submitted has quoted information in the synopsis:
http://www.bookshare.org/web/SingleTitle.html?submittitleid=43261

So maybe Bookshare has revised their policy on using reviews. If you look at
the long synopsis you'll find hundreds of them that use reviews.
