So what we are brusk at one time or another. I just take everything with a grain of salt. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lori Castner To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 12:11 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: resigning from the volunteer list I agree with what the three of you have said. I remember that when I joined the volunteer list several years ago, E. was the first person to welcome me, and did so in a warm and friendly manner. And, even though she has sometimes been quite outspoken she clearly loves Bookshare and made her comments out of concern. As I have said before, all of us should assume good will. I agree with you and Cindy. There was really no cause for her to be singled out like that. If she does not proofread any more, Bookshare will lose a terrific proofreader who has taken difficult history books, among many others, and has done an excellent job on them. I really didn't, and still don't, see what the problem or problems are. I read almost all the posts and have been for years; generally the only ones I skip are the ones that deal with technology about which I have no expertise. E's posts are sometimes a bit brusque--it's her way of writing, but she has learned to soften them and I see that she tries. Never has there been inappropriate language, i.e., swearing or name-calling , and those, to me, from what I have seen on other email lists or chat rooms, are the only things that I would call inappropriate in posts. If someone doesn't like the tone of her posts, when they see in the From space that the post is from her, they can just delete before reading it. Pavi just sent me a note saying she had received feedback regarding messages I have recently sent to the list which some other volunteers have judged to be inappropriate. This is kind of personal I know. What is appropriate for one person may not be for another. Rather than unintentionally offending anybody, I am resigning from the volunteer list.
