I'm late in responding to your post, but I tried your idea of saving to
text, and it worked great. Now, can I convert that text file to an rtf file
without trouble? I'm using Word to read the text files if that makes a
difference.

Just in case you might want to do this as an alternative, I noticed
when trying Open Book that the quotes and apostrophes are okay if you
save in .txt instead of .rtf.
