Kim, Welcome to the club and I hope you enjoy validating. The hold it for should be respected as there is a reason a specific person has requested that hold which the scanner agrees with. As there is a wide range in the quality and accuracy of scans many of us, even the most careful of scanners, hope you take the time to read every page but I do understand that once you get used to the work of certain scanners, and if you know who the scanners are, you may settle for doing a spell-check but to do that means you know the idiosyncrasies of the author's spelling and can hit the ignore button when the misspelling is the author's and not the scan's. We aim for only excellent books if at all possible and a validater can reject a book that is fair or even good. If a book is marked excellent but a validater does not find it so you can return if for someone else to try to validate it who is more familiar with the author or explain why you find it less that excellent. We scanners rely on validaters to catch any mistakes we make and hope you care enough to look for them.
