Actually I didn't remove them. My difficulty I thought was that I couldn't find them and when I tried to play the file they were spoken. So I was concerned that my file was no good because I didn't know how to remove them. Thanks everyone for letting me know not the try and remove them. But that does lead me to ask if others who scan save their files as RTF right from the beginning or save them as Word or text first and only change them to RTF before submission. I've been saving them as RTF right from the beginning. Is that the best way to do it?

Hi all,

Denise, what you are hearing is the mark-up for RTF. Dunnow why it's showing up like that, but Word shouldn't be displaying those chars. Don't delete them because they are part of the RTF mark-up. I don't know what to say. I don't know why Word would do this. Your phone probably doesn't have the capability to read RTF files. So that's why your're getting them . I think if you deleted some of the chars, that may be why Word is displaying them.

Don't use Wordpad to proof RTF files. It doesn't show the page breaks properly. Use Word or Kurzie or Open Office or something like that.

Me, I think I'd change it to txt and then redo it in RTF or better yet, save as a word file first then put it into RTF. What you did by taking out the "par"s is you destroyed the format markers. I dunnow what to tell you to do. Your file's munged now. A good solid reason for making copies of files before you mess with them. Sorry for bringing you bad news. Please don't shoot the messenger!
