Even if you use K1000 or OpenBook, they both have word processors built into them. Anediting program is just another name for whatever word processing softwareyou are using to proofread the book. If you are using an editing program such as MS Word and a screen reader, in some cases there will be a page number in the text of the page and another page number that the software keeps track of. For example, if your book has 4 pages without numbers at the beginning of the book, then starts with page 1 in the text, by the time you get to the page with 212 in the text, your software might call it page 216. Each time you come to a new page your screen reader might say the number the software gives the page, then the page number in the text. In general, you can't change the page number assigned by the software, and you want to leave the page number in the text. In other words, you probably shouldn't change anything. But, you are supposed to make sure the book has all its pages, and if possible that all the numbers in the text are in the correct order.
