Often, if not usually, the different numbers are for
different editions or printings, i.e., there's one
number for paperback, one for hardbound, one for
llibrary ed., etc. Usually it will sat pbk or hrdb or
something in parenthese after the ISBN. The problem is
that without the book in hand, you wouldn't know which
to use. But you do have the print books whenyou scan,
don't you, Bud?

Anyway, as others have said, ISBN numbers on the form
are optional. They do help validators who like to use
the exact print book to help with the validation,
though.
