If you download a book in the collection that is a mess, but you can fix it
up, you can follow the following procedure.

You should fix up the daisy version of the book if possible, so download it
and open it in Kurzweil, if you have it. Those who do not have Kurzweil can
make an html copy of the book with the bookshare unpack tool, then open the
html book in Word and convert to RTF. Explorer will work if the original
was a txt file, because formatting will not be lost in conversion to txt,
which is the only usable saving option in explorer.

Now open the txt or RTF file you have created in whatever editor you prefer
and fix up the book. You should delete the top 2 pages that just contain
bookshare info that is added to the book for legal purposes. This is
allowed because those pages will be added in again when the book is uploaded
and approved. It is also good to delete them because you don't need your
E-mail address left in the book.
When you are finished working on the book just upload it as a new
submission, but remember that the synopsis fields will be grabbed from the
original submission, so you shouldn't fill them out.
In the comments field you will need to note that this is a resubmit of a
book already on bookshare, and that you have improved it's quality. If you
want the synopsis to be changed you will need to write it in the comments
field as well, and tell the admin to update it.

It is ok to validate your own improved copy of a book, but it is also ok to
leave it for another volunteer to validate. They should have no problem
approving it with the notes you made in the comment field.

but I'll ask them anyway. Let's say I download a book from Bookshare which
has been accepted. Besides rescanning it, which I would prefer to leave to
someone else, if I find errors (it may be rated good or fair), and wish to
correct them, is there a way the book can be resubmitted again? If so, what
would the procedure be? Thanks in advance and hope this makes sense.
