Judy is so right.
One can extract all the files in a zipped file to a specific folder and then 
there is a working .xml file. Perhaps bookshare should have a training
session for unzipping books in case someone is unable to do this task.

There is also an .opl file which will read in the victor soft reader.
Frankly, I think the victor soft program was designed by sighted persons for blind persons. However, I downloaded the user's guide which is a .doc file 
and will try to attach a .txt version of that file for anyone who doesn't
have microsoft word. I don't know if the attachment will go through the
freelist folks, but we'll try.

Bob and Amber, I just downloaded a brand new daisy book that entered the
collection today because I use the .xml files sometimes too. It did have 
an .xml file in the .zip file.  In order to read the .xml file correctly
with Firefox (which is what I use to read .xml books), I had to also
extract two associated .css files (daisy.css and html.css) as well as a
file called DaisyTransform.xsl but all these files were in the .zip file. 
I used 7-zip to look at the zip file on my laptop.

Here's the list of files that were in the .zip file for the book titled
The Black Stallion:

daisy.css
DaisyTransform.xsl
dtbook-2005-2.dtd
html.css
The_Black_Stallion.ncx
The_Black_Stallion.opf
The_Black_Stallion.xml
The_Black_Stallion0001.smil
I don't know how the new Daisy files work with any of the devices most of 
you guys use, but as a sighted reader I was really surprised.  The new
.xml version of the book is vastly different in layout, and far superior
in its readability to the old ones from bookshare.  For what it's worth.
