What I do was suggested by Kurzweil. I open the .rtf file, then save it to Kurzweil. It retains the proper pagination. Otherwise, if I keep the book in .rtf format, every time I open Kurzweil I get more pages. This was a real treat when I was doing ON THE AIR: since the 740-page book became 2600 pages. I took them out manually, but asked some questions. Their suggestion was to always save in .kes format. hth. If I like the book I would painstakingly go through the whole thing and synchronize the printed page numbers and the actual page breaks. What I do is to put new pagebreak by hitting control enter and then to remove all the misplaced pagebreaks. Kurzweil is really very good and convenient as a validating and fix it tool. One thing that can cost this kind of problem is when you use MsWord to export to RTF. Word thinks that it knows better and move the pages around that is why I use WordPad to make a clean RTF for the final submission. I am validating a book in Kurzweil; it has an RTF extension and I have not changed it. When Kurzweil states a number change, I see this on the screen. When a book page number occurs there is no screen movement and these two functions are in no way occurring at the same time. Kurzweil says there are 544 pages in the book; the last actual print page number is 310 and this was verified with the submitter. Can someone tell me what the problem is here and do I need to be concerned about it? It is an excellent scan and I surely don't want to reject the book. I have not tried to change the extension to KES but should I do so? TIA. Jill
