Doesn't superanuated mean old?

Ok, here goes, here is the word I did not know:

  superannuated
Now this book is mostly about taking a root word and adding a prefix or a
suffix, or both, to make new words. But I still didn't know what it was and
only figured it out by process of elimination because I knew the other words in
the list.

Can you figure out what it is? smile
