Well, so far so good.

I got the Optibook on the desk today, with the updated drivers, and this is what I am finding. The scanner seems to do a great job with most books. I have a couple of picture books that haven't come out so good, but at this point I don't think they would on the Epson either. Was able smile to get both scanners on the desk side by side, so can try them to get different results, smile.

I would also add to do an actual check of your scanner and recognition settings and see if you can tell where you're having problems--on the inner or outer ends of lines, perhaps? Maybe it's the particular book?

We have three going about the same time and no problems with them. Use the weigh driver. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Julia" <julia.kulak@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Oo, you have two scanners at your disposal, how exciting!
Let me know what you find.
Thanks for your help.

I haven't had problems with my Epson 1660 but haven't connected up the Optibook, that was tomorrow's adventure, smile.

But my scans with the Epson are better.

Maybe you have to readjust your scanning area, I don't know, don't scan with k1000. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Julia" <julia.kulak@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi everyone, I'm back.
I'm trying out the demo of Kurzweil version 12 with my opticbook, and it seems to be getting worse results then with version 11. Even on hardbacks there are errors. Am I alone in my predicament? Is there some special setting I need to tweak to make it work better? Is it true what I've heard, that version 12 is a significant improvement over 11, because from where I sit it seems like its quite a bit worse. Maybe my scanner is dying, I don't know. Although considering that I got it replaced six months ago I doubt that is the case. Somehow it seemed to be scanning much better before the replace.
Can someone please shed some light on this puzzling matter.
Thanks in advance for your help.
