Hi Charisma,

It is possible that there is some repeated string of text that is choking
the text-to-speech in your reading machine. I don't know what that text
would be, but it is possible.

Perhaps you could tell us what books are causing you difficulty? Did you
already do that, and I'm brain dead and missed it?

Sorry if I missed important info like that.

Mayrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] numbering problem causing book to reset every
time?

I have a question about two books from Bookshare. I believe this is on
topic because it MAY have something to do with the scanning/editing process.
If this is not the correct place to ask, though, please let me know.

I have several books loaded on to my reader, from NLS, from Bookshare, I
think one from RFB&D, and some music.

In two of the books that are from Bookshare--and only these two books--every
time I navigate away from the book, or turn my reader off, the book has gone
back to a certain spot in the book, same spot each time. For those two books
alone the reader seems unable to hold bookmarks or place markings.

Additionally, when I try to navigate by percentage, the percentage I leap is
always to the next consistant place in the book. That is, whether I go 4% or
10%, that leap always takes me to the SAME next spot.

Finally, when I am listening to one of these two books, my reader just shuts
down or gets the equivalent of a computer freezing up when I try to do too
much navigating in a short time. For instance, if I try to go back a few
words and another few words, or try to do "spell" and go back a few words,
then pause or something like that.

It only happens with these two books.

Could there be a setting in the books that might be wonky? I just can't
figure out the problem. The other books from all sources, including
Bookshare, are navigating fine by the page number or percentage, are not
shutting the reader down or freezing it, and are able to retain bookmarks
and place markings.

So my bottom-line questions is, could this be a Bookshare setting somewhere
in these two specific books?
