Here are the instructions straight from Nick.

" 1. Download OpticBook's drivers from the <plustek.com> site, as they are
text-based and easier for We Blind user's to run than the 2 discs full of
unnecessary
software which ship with the unit.
2. Uninstall any current scanner software, and immediately thereafter, or
at least after the next "reboot" use (shift_del) on "windows\twain_32"
folder and
subsidiary folders so it won't leave Windoes confused, don't worry the
folder will be recreated during installation of OpticBook 3600 software.
3. Unlock scanner head lock located behind front right foot of scanner,
front being book edge, rear being top's hinges. Plug scanner into USB II
port on
computer, and power and power-up the scanner.
4. Install software.
5. DO NOT REMOVE "Option Express OpticBook manager from StartUp group under
any circumstances.
6. Have trustworthy sighted person access "task Tray.OpticBook Action
Express.utilities" and advance scanner light on durration slider as far as
it will go (15
minutes or...
7.
Run "program files\kurzweil educational systems\diags\scanconf.exe" set all
"ADF" related parameters including "Full Duplex" to "off/disabled", "Native
Scan" to "on/enabled", "Hold Scanner" to "never" and, "Fast Cancel" to
"enabled". Finally, "click" on "Done".
8. Make sure "WIA" scanner driver is selected in Kurzweil 1000.scanner
settings.scanner source" (alt_t s alt_s) make sure "WIA" OpticBook Driver,
is
selected, then, "OK" and Save Settings in Default Settings file, (alt_t v)
and "enter"
9. Try a scan."

O.k. guys, it has arrived, now... where do I put the drivers, when i find
them. is there a particular folder where they need to go?

You can tell I don't do this that often.

America has been called a melting pot, but it seems better to call it a
mosaic, for in it each nation, people or race which has come to its shores
has been privileged to keep its individuality, contributing at the same time
its share to the unified pattern of a new nation. -King Baudouin of Belgium
