Hi Kim! I use a lot of shortcut keys, myself. And, yes, there are at least two or three ways to perform the same function. *smile* Blessings. I don't know if this is economy of motion or the principle of least effort. I should rather think it's the latter, as I'm one person who would prefer to avoid jumping through hoops if possible. Also, I am certain that Windows XP gives us more than one way to perform an operation. Sure she could press F2 and rename her files that way, but it's also easy to go into the file menu and hit M and rename files that way. I think your method is good also. You're right. Most of the time when I give examples, I try to use the menus because I find it easier to use the menus first, and apply the shortcut keys after I am familiar with the menus. But your absolutely correct in what you said, and I personally do it your way. Just thought I was making it easier for Monica by explaining how to find it in the menus. *smile* Blessings. The extraction wizard will come up and Jaws will prompt you through the process of extracting a file. I have Windows XP and this is what I do to extract files. Maybe WindowEyes does the same thing, but don't know because I don't have it as a screen reader. Anyway, the keystroke I gave you is a Windows command for XP. I have no idea what the commands are in Vista. If you highlight the zipped file or folder name, use your "menu" or "alt" key and arrow down to "extract all". Enter on this, and you'll be guided through the process of unzipping the file. By default, the file will be unzipped to it's own folder in the directory where the zipped file is located. If you download your zipped file into a folder called "bookshare", for instance, the unzipped files will be placed in a subfolder within your "bookshare folder. The only thing you will have to do is enter your password, the same one you used to log into Bookshare at the time you downloaded the zipped file. There are other programs with more features, of course, but the XP extraction wizard works fine, if you choose to use it. HTH Blessings. I just resubscribed to this list and had a few questions. 1. Can someone recommend a good program to use to unzip the books once downloaded from bookshare? Is there a program where you can open several books at once once your password is typed? I have windows xp but don't seem to have a program to unzip these files. 2. When the program asks if you want to save the file, should the file name be shortened or saved with my full name in the book title as it appears? Thanks in advance.
