Depends on what kinds of books you'll be doing.  I'd pick either Epson or 
Opticbook.
The Opticbook would be for books with very good margins and books you can't do 
two pages at once with such as some trade and hardbacks.  The Epson would be 
great for mass market paperbacks.

        It looks as if I'm going to have to buy a new scanner. My old and 
wonderful Epson 1660won't work with my new Macintosh. We've tried downloading 
everything, Twain,driver can't get the scanner to work
