I would like either of these, so just put a hold on either one, please.
Susan can have first choice. Thanks so very much Mary!

Hi Susan and Reggie,

I'm replying to both of your requests for more info about the books for
which I'd like proofreaders here. I hope that's all right.

The first book that I have available is Ten Beach Road by Wendy Wax. Here
is the text from the back cover:

[From The Back Cover]

On the brink of ruin, three very different women discover themselves where
they least expect ... at Ten Beach Road.

Madeline, Avery, and Nikki are strangers to one another, but they have one
thing in common. They each wake up one morning to discover that their life
savings have vanished, along with their trusted financial manager ...
leaving them with nothing but co-ownership of a ramshackle beachfront house.

Madeline Singer is a homemaker coping with empty-nest syndrome and an
unemployed husband. Avery Lawford is an architect--or was, until she
somehow became the sidekick on her ex-husband's TV show. And professional
matchmaker Nikki Grant is trying to recover from her biggest mistake ...

No one is going to save them but themselves. Determined to fight back, they
throw their lots in together and take on the challenge of restoring the
historic beach house to its former glory. But just as they begin to
reinvent themselves and discover the power of friendship, their secrets
threaten to tear down their trust, and destroy their lives a second time
...

Praise for the novels of Wendy Wax

little help from your friends."

READERS GUIDE INSIDE

----

The second book is A Girl's Guide to Witchcraft by Mindy Klasky, and here
is the text from its back cover:

Which is more unlikely? Meeting a single, straight, reasonably attractive,
willing-to-commit man? Or Discovering a secret cache of magic books? For
good girl Jane Madison, neither has a shot in hell of coming true--until
the day she finds a hidden room... Now she's done a bit of experimenting
and found a spell that makes her irresistible to men-... more ≫even those
who have previously ignored her. And another that turns a cat into her
witch's familiar (a snarky, critical, self-absorbed man--pretty much a
typical male). Though her impulsive acts of magic have brought a warder
(sexy, grouchy, elusive and determined to stop her from using magic) down
on her, Jane's not willing to let go of this fantastic new life. Though she
wonders about having things that aren't "real," she's having too much fun
to stop. After all, no one ever said being a witch was easy...

---

If either of you is interested in proofreading either of these books, I'll
happily put a hold on the book you'd like to proofread for you when I
submit the book, which will be almost as soon as you say you're interested
in proofreading it.

I hope each of you will find a book that is to your liking!

Thanks in any case for the offers to proofread the books!

Hi Mayrie,

What is the romance you have for someone to proof? I may be interested in
taking it if it hasn’t been spoken for. Thanks.

Hi Reggie,

Any book labeled PRIORITY is on the check out page by mistake. If you
encounter any book with that designation, please don't download it, and
notify Carrie at ckarnos@xxxxxxxxx and let her know that the book is on the
check out page by mistake. Those books labeled PRIORITY are books that
have already been proofread by outsourcers and which have mistakenly ended
up on the check out page, rather than in the approval queue.

And, Reggie, I will have a few books available for proofreading very soon.
All formatting has been done. What remains needing to be done is to read
the books through, and to make sure that paragraph marks between dialogue
are where they should be. This is what I mean.

"I don't want to go to Grandma's house," Max whined. "Why?" his mother
asked.

As I have written the above, there are two lines of dialogue which have
been put together as one. What needs to happen here is for a paragraph
mark, (carriage return) to be inserted before the word "Why?" In the books
I'd like proofreaders for, the final thing needed will be a final spell
check after reading the books.

I have one erotica book, one romance/fiction, one fiction, and one teen
fiction book that will need a bit more care taken with it.

Are you interested in any of these? I can give titles and authors if you
prefer later.

Sorry for the ramble!

Mayrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: need book to proof

Hello all:

Is there anyone who has finished scanning a book who needs a proofer? I
would like anything on animals, history, fiction, romance, mystery and
thrillers, nonfiction biography or events. All that is on without a hold
is religion. Alternatively, is there anyone who would let me have one of
their holds?

Another problem. I downloaded what I think is a textbook Priority TX
Health and Wellness. I tried to make it into a .doc file, which I normally
do as I have Word 2003 and it will not open in my BN. When I opened it on
the BN it gave me a message stating “Ipad converter does not recognize
this as a word 2007.” I think it was scanned on a later Word. Can
someone pick it up and proof? It looks like it was priority. I intended to
spend tonight and tomorrow proofing. Instead I had to download something
about shells Shelley scanned. Hoping it has pic descriptions as I wonder
if it is one of the books that people are working on for descriptions. I
cannot help with this. If it is not described and was only let go back to
download because of this, can someone let me know, please before I get too
far. Appreciate much!

Reggie

Thanks for any help anyone can give me on any of these problems.
