The privacy issue is a concern. However, bookshare could create some kind of mask so that we didn't necessarily have to see the person's email address.
monster.com has such a protocol in place.
It's extremely frustrating not being able to contact submitters.
Personally I would only contact a submitter if pages were missing.

There is an issue which is sort of related to the privacy issue Cindy mentioned.

Folks who submit books which may have poor ratings may not want to hear from validators. I know we on this list are dedicated but some people apparently want to submit and forget about it. This is their right as much as it makes it tricky for the rest of us.

Hi Elizabeth, Well I know that my vote doesn't mean a bunch, but, I think we would all like to know what the suggestions are and be able to contribute to them. Afterall then we don't sound like broken records also. I do believe it is high time our suggestions were codified and presented in a useful manor. We may be even able to help.I wish you luck and if you think that I would be able to help in any way please let me know, off list if you wish. tjhawk1@xxxxxxxxxxx I also have free long distance phone service Tom

I got a private message from Gerald. In it, he asks that I make a list of priorities in order and explain why each item on it is important since otherwise the bookshare staff will not understand the importance of the item. This way, the people who are official "technical volunteers" can best present my suggestions/complaints to staff if nothing has been done about them after a certain amount of time. I will therefore make suggestions directly to staff from now on and explain in detail what makes each necessary so the staff understands. I did not realize that the staff needed to have these suggestions explained in terms of necessity. I thought they would understand without explanations why having a running commentary about a book on step1 would be useful to the volunteers or why having updated wish lists, step 1 and admin cue lists would be useful to submitters and validators. He also suggests that I stop writing to this list with concerns so that I do not sound like a broken record.

I will do all these things.

I will confine my communications to this list to requests for missing pages and info about books I have rejected or put back on step 1.
