I have not been on the list for awhile. So I do not know of the jiffy proofing scandal. But I hope my bringing up this issue with my submitted book may be helpful. I think if someone could post Carrie's email, I will write her, or whoever you think is best to let know. I have revised this scanned book to now include the omitted page and would like to get the earlier submission released so I may re-submit the better copy. I will try and be better about checking it better before submitting next time. I'm a bit embarrassed! Somehow 2 pages must have stuck together and when I checked it before, I thought all was good. Oops! I would hate to have this book with the very last page of a really good novel missing. When I was reading it this morning, it happened to me. No fun, for any reader!! Thanks. If you will remember the jiffy proofing scandal, Nicholas Wilcox was one of the two people who checked out books and then uploaded them in less than five minutes, obviously not bothering to work on them at all. He recently checked out one of my submissions and this time took a few days to upload it. I hope that means that he has learned his lesson and is now actually proofreading rather than just downloading and uploading, but having a book out for several days does not mean that any work is necessarily being done on it and based on his past behavior I don't trust him. Since I preproof my submissions, though, I knew of no way to check on him. Now we have a way. Alert Carrie and then let it go. If he passes this book then we will know that he is not bothering to read it. _ _ _ "Capitalism is war; socialism is peace." - Karl Liebnecht Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/rogerbailey81 The Militant: http://www.themilitant.com Pathfinder Press: http://www.pathfinderpress.com Granma International: http://www.granma.cu/ingles/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rik James" <rixmix2009@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 20, 2010 1:13 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] my subbmitted book "Driving on the Rim" hello, proofreader, I have a message! > Hello Volunteers, > > This is Rik James. > > I have been off the list for awhile. > But having just discovered my submitted scanned book, DRIVING ON THE RIM > by > THOMAS McGUANE has an issue, I am looking to contact the proofreader. > Hopefully that person is on the discussion group list.
