Does anyone know if there is any way to handle the section breaks with Kurzweil?

Lori is right about some books being easier to work on than others. Some
people proofread their books before submitting. Others seem to think their
books are like spaghetti ... you throw it all up there and see if any of it
sticks. If you are new to validating, I urge you to take books rated excellent
and to look for people who are known to do careful scans. You can safely take
on books scanned by Shelley Rhodes, Carrie Karnos, Mayrie ReNae, Jamie Yates,
Dan Beavers, or Jim Baugh. We have many other careful submitters. I just know
for a fact that these people currently have at least one book in the validation
pool.

And Lori, you can proofread rtf files in Openbook if you aren't ready to
switch to Word. (smile) The only ones where you'd have trouble are Carrie's
books because Openbook doesn't handle section breaks correctly.

    Dear Siobhan,

Don't be discouraged! It sounds like you chose a poorly scanned book for
your first attempt. There are many clearer scans to tempt you!

There are submitters who do not check through their scans, I guess. We
can't always figure out the words that should be there.

It is difficult to reject a book, but sometimes it is necessary. I had to
reject three books last week, and I do admit to being a bit discouraged. I
have enjoyed validating the .ark files, but I will be switching to .rft files
soon and am not as comfortable editing in word, which is what I have decided to
do, I think.

But, give it another try! As others have suggested, you might want to
start with a shorter book and one by a submitter who does cleaner scans--I
don't know who to recommend though as I am still somewhat new to volunteering.

E I don't know if you dislike romances or not, but that's how it
sounded in your message. I've rejected it, someone else can give it a shot, and
that's it. Thanks for the help. I don't know f I'll bother doing this again.
