Thanks for the reply... I don't know if optional means that they can be
retained by the tool, or not, and that is part of my question.

Everything that I have submitted has been under 24 point with at least four
points of separation between titles and normal text. Generally that means
they are set at 16 and 12 point in new Times Roman since it is easier to
differentiate certain characters that look almost identical in Arial. The
only time I leave the copyright page in a smaller font is if it is the only
way to get it to fit into even the longest page length permissible so that
it doesn't present with a soft page break, but that's just because I like to
see those all gone when I am handling them in so that it might not confuse a
new volunteer in my scans.

I have average middle-aged vision and a 22 inch all-in-one computer and I
always make word describe it as page width, so my magnification is at least
as large as yours even in 12 point. I never try to tax my eyes and always
use the largest font that is practical in a manner displayed as large as
possible. I also don't use maximum resolution on my screen as that shrinks
everything including fonts. I figure my eyes will age fast enough on their
own. Wink.
