I made a document with three columns that views as three columns on my screen,
by choosing columns from the format menu.
Now, when I tried to replace ^n with ^p in this document, I got no
replacements.
But, it was very easy to "de-columnize" this document by selecting the text,
pressing Alt-O for the format menu, pressing c for columns, typing the number 1
for 1 column and pressing enter.
All of the columns went away and the text looked just like one flowing
document.
