Lissi,
Em dashes are a special type of dash that is often overlooked, its
similar to a comma. You should leave these as is. I believe Sarah provided a
more detailed explanation earlier this year and perhaps someone can repost.
I've not got my archive here so I can't.
Best,
Jake

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] m dash
Dear Volunteers,
I think I'm validating my book in microsoft word. When listening to jaws read, has anyone noticed him saying m dash? I'm guessing the scanner had trouble identifying a punctuation mark, but I'm not sure if I should replace it with a single dash or if m dash is an altogether different mark. There are quite a few of these in the text.
Thank you for your ideas.
Always With Love,
Lissi
