Hi, Pam! Was the book already falling apart when you checked it out? If that's the case, this is in no way your fault, and the librarian should not attribute it to you. If a book isn't falling apart already, I don't see that a person could seriously damage it by holding it down on the scanner. Take care!

Hi,

Have any of you ever had complaints from libraries about the spines of
books getting too much of a workout from books being scanned? One of
the books that I got recently was falling apart when I got it. I could
tell they were less than thrilled when I ordered some books the other
day, and then when one of them came in today, they asked that I be
careful when scanning it. Not really sure what I can do about it
though. I won't compromise the scan by pressing more lightly on the
book and you have to open it as wide as it will open. Hope I'm not
eventually barred from the library. That would not be fun.
