Hi Julie, I have an epson 1660. Don't know if the settings depend on the scanner or not, but I am getting good scans with dynamic threshhold. Was just surprised that I had to play with the settings as much. That's got me curious though, wondering why gray scale doesn't seem to work for mine. Pam
