We could always go back to doing nothing. Oh, wait! Isn't that how we got
here in the first place?
<sigh>
Btw, not personal. I have literaly heard this same approach advocated for
Years and the result, not surprising, is more and more worthless books.

Reading some of what is being discussed I am lead to the thought of....

We can make all these new guidelines and ...

  1. If BookShare doesn't sign on to them then the majority of contributors
  may never now them.
  2. If a new volunteer signs up for volunteering and they learn the BookShare
guidelines and a few months later sign up for the list they are then faced
with a group of non official guidelines.
  3. IN a perfect world every volunteer or contributor will go along with a
set of guidelines setup by the list but you will have those that will simply
say, gees, I didn't sign up for all this regulation if and when they come on
  the list.

For starts, when a validator releases a book let's put comments on this
list. If it seems like a book you are interested in, save the comments
even if you do not download the book immediately. Then if you get a chance
at it later you will have the earlier validator's comments. This idea is
not official but might help some. We really can help each other I think by
speaking about specific books, both those rejected and those which we feel
need commenting upon particularly when we release it.
