Dear Gerald,

I've made minute progress, but this is like walking a tight rope! It's not the fault of your and everyone else's instructions. It's that I'm not as conversant with computer protocol as I need to be.

I did enter on browse and entered cancel when I realized I'd made errors in trying to select the proper choices in the fields as I tabbed through them

When I tried again, the dialog box, or whatever disappeared without my wanting it to and that final field is now filled with a file name I know won't work.

Here is an example of the kind of baracade I can't figure out how to cross. Where jaws says, save as type combo box, I arrowed through the choices and none said rtf. Of the three choices offered, I didn't know which one to enter or whether I should type something in, and if the later, then what should it be that I should type in.

I saw the zip file name of the book, but didn't know how to get to the unzipped rtf file I've actually been working on. As I said earlier, first I enter on the zip file, then I enter on the zip box that hopes I'll pay 29 dollars to have a permanent copy of the zipping program, then I get the rtf file which I first highlight by pressing the space bar and then open by pressing enter.

I'm glad uploading isn't a lake or I'd be drowning! - trying to smile -

Always With Love,

Lissi

Lissi,

When you're ready to fill in the field, tab down to the Browse button and
press it. That will bring up a dialog box which will help you locate your
file. Keep choosing the folders where your file is located until you find
the file itself. When you do find it, select that file and hit Enter.
Hitting Enter at that point should close the dialog box and place the file
name in the field for you. Remember that the correct file is the one you
edited and it should have an RTF extension.

If you still have trouble, then let me know and I'll try to go into a little
more detail on how to fill in the field using the Browse button.

Gerald

Dear Gerald,

Do I cut and paste the file, or copy it as it is written, with the shortened
book title and rich text spelled out and all of those numbers. I'm sorry to
be so persistent. Obviously I'm lacking some basic computer understanding,
but I've never had training and have been learning bit by bit as I go. I'm
just not sure how to tell book share where my file is.I'm worried that I'll
muck everything up when I'm on the brink of finishing.

And, thank you for the other pointers you've sent. I'm breezing through, the
validation for "Vanished." It's perfection. How am I supposed to learn when
I can't find any flaws at all! - grin -

Always With Love,

Lissi

Lissi,

When you originally downloaded the book and unzipped it, the unzip process
would have created a file with the name of the book and the extension
.RTF.
That is the file you should have edited, and the file which needs to be
uploaded. Put the name of that file in the field by choosing it in your
file list instead of the .ZIP file.

Let us know when you're successful because I'm sure there will be several
people who would like to congratulate you on your accomplishment.

Gerald

Dear Volunteers,

The moment has arrived and if you're wondering why I'm making such a big
deal out of it it is because it is a very big deal to me!

I've triple confirmed that the information in the fields re title,
copyright, etc. are correct. I'm poised before the last field which is
blank. It asks, File to Upload. I don't know what to do.

In my documents, the file named itself, the_orph.zip. I downloaded in RTF,
but had to unzip the file to work on it. Every time I've worked on it I go
to a folder called, validations in progress, arrow to, the_orph.zip, tell
the zip box I want to use the evaluation version, or something close to
that. I get a window where I press space bar and, The _Orphan_Gam For Rich
Text, followed by a date and many numbers is highlighted. I enter it,
and
the whole book appears.

So what do I put in that bottom blank field. I'm so close, now!

Always With Love,

and levitating with excitement,

Lissi

I know I'm supposed to upload in RTF, but
