I noticed that the final book, The End, Episode 13,
has been added to the collection today (51 books
approved by Gustavo today. He must be cleaning up
before going to a conference. smile)
When I was in the library yesterday, I noticed a new
Snicket book that isn't in the collection. Indeed,
though my branch had a copy others, according to the
catalog, are still being processed. The title is The
Beatrice Letters, and the subtitle, inside the book,
said it relates to book 13. I checked Amazon and one
review talked about clues and anagrams and things,
The book itself is interesting. If someone decides to
scan it, you'll have to type in the cover, because
it's three-dimensional, i.e., the letters of "Letters"
is cut out of the cover and the white of the inside
page shows through. I opened the book, and it's full
of folders. The correspondence between Beatrice and
Lemony are inside the folders in separate sheets, so
it seems.
According to amazon.com, the series is meant for ages
9 - 12, but the librarians in my library love the
series and have read them all. I read parts of one
when I provided some missing pages, but after reading
the review of Beatrice letters, and an other review of
one of the books, I think I'll have to read them all.
Apparently, like so many Disney movies, at least those
of old, there are plenty of things like allusions that
adults would enjoy, too.
