Bud,
If you're getting this junk regardless of engine and setting, it may be that
your scanner has a problem. You might try scanning something with save images
enabled. Then, when you find a page with the problem, get
your wife to look at the image, and see if she sees anything at the bottom that
might be causing the problem. You can also try sending an image or two directly
to Stephen at Kurzweil if you have his direct address.
