Hi, Scott and Cindy! I've heard two schools of thought on this. <Smile>
Basically, it doesn't seem to matter, one way or the other. However, just
as an FYI, in Braille, it looks much better to eliminate the spaces, even
though they are included in the print edition. That's the way they are
translated. However, the Braille translation software doesn't always
translate them correctly when the spaces are included. Sorry if this
doesn't make sense... It's 3 A.M. my time! <Smile> Take care!
Jana
Scott,
Technically, there should be a space between each of the dots. If the ellipses comes at the end of a complete sentence, the three spaced dots come after the period.
In some books there seem to be no dots, but that may be because the font is small and they're there but it just doesn't seem like it. In most books the spaces are there. I just looked in one and the spaces are there.

Hi all,
I'm currently scanning a book which makes frequent use of the ellipsis, i.e. three periods. My question is simply this: how does an ellipsis appear in print? Is it three periods together, three periods with spaces between, or something else? In this novel, when the ellipsis appears, the Openbook program will put it one way in one instance, and a different way the next time it appears.
