Scott, While your method presents the best braille results, that is not the printed form. In print, an elipsis is represented by three periods with a space in between each. Programs such as Microsoft word automatically recognize an attempt to insert elipsis and format accordingly. Kurzweil and Openbook do not have that capability. The trouble comes in hwen we try to use automatic formatting conversion processes that produce Braille. When I scan/validate books, if I find a place where there is an ellipsis, I usually find that the scanning program recognizes the ellipses as a period followed by a space, another period, a space, and a final period. When I see this, I will remove the spaces, so there are three consecutive periods with a space on each side. This seems to give best results, i.e. seeing a single dot repeated three times in braille rather than random periods.
