Hi Bud, Poor you! I think every person who does much scanning probably has a story like this. The important thing is to not save a file after a big find and replace operation until you've thoroughly checked out the consequences. Alternately, save the file with a different name until you're sure it's okay. If you make a big goof, close the file and say No when it asks you if you want to save. It's always best to save your file with a ctrl-s *before* tackling a big F&R operation. One way to handle the problem you described with the spaced-out letters is to select the whole mess minus the page number from one page and do F&R with that. Then page down until you find another header, select it, and get rid of them all with F&R. Keep doing this until you run out of mangled headers. It is a little slow, but it sure beats doing them one at a time!
