I try to leave them as they are. Don't worry about that. I don't think it's a big deal either way. If that's what you have, don't bother changing them.

the way Bookshare does it. The convention for Braille is to use two
hyphens for the em dash, but for some reason Bookshare's Braille
translator just puts in one hyphen.
