According to the rules you should leave them alone. It's just that screen
readers can't have every possible compound word and strangely written word
in the pronunciation dictionary to prevent weird pronunciation. So many
words can be made by putting two together and either separate or together
is correct. You are right that it is unlikely that anyone will catch your
changes, but then again I get pretty used to the weird mispronunciation of
words and catch on to what they are supposed to be pretty quickly. If I
hear any over and over again I finally add it to the pronunciation
dictionary. Sometimes I even stop noticing that my brain is automatically
supplying the correct word when it is said incorrectly.

Dear Volunteers and emerging Friends,
My guess is no, leave the compound words as they are.
Always With Love,
