Carrie,

I just scanned the Diving Bell and the Butterfly for a student at the
University and have a Pristine copy available to upload. Let me know if you
want me to upload that instead of you having to duplicate the effort.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] change in New York Times bestseller procedure

Hi gang,

In the past, I've asked Engineering to publish a list of the New York Times
bestsellers every month, and then I've ordered the books from amazon.com. It
seems that every month part of the order would show up and the rest of the
books would be delayed weeks. I'm fed up with dealing with it, so I've
changed my procedure and now I pick up the bestsellers whenever I spot them
in bookstores. So, I thought I'd tell you which books I pick up right after
I buy them. Hopefully this will cut down on duplication of efforts.

I think it's too much to ask the Engineering department to modify the
website once or twice a week, so I'll still be asking them to publish the
list once a month, but at least you'll have a clue as to what books will be
on the list, from the emails I send.

Since the bestseller list changes Friday nights, I'll be hitting the
bookstores Saturday mornings. As an example, this morning I bought 8
bestsellers which will be on the March list. They are:
Stranger in Paradise, by Robert B. Parker
Hope's Boy, by Andrew Bridge
This Republic of Suffering, by Drew Gilpin Faust
Dream Chaser, by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Hard to Handle, by Lori Foster
Tom Clancy's Endwar, by David Michaels
Vampires are Forever, by Lynsay Sands
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, by Jean-Dominique Bauby

There are 5 other books that will be on the March list, that are already in
the collection. They are:
The Appeal, by John Grisham
7th Heaven, by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro (being validated)
Treasures, by Nora Roberts
Snowfall at Willow Lake, by Susan Wiggs
The Faithful Spy, by Alex Berenson

This morning I also bought the 2008 Newbery Award winner (Good Masters!
Sweet Ladies!). I have 2 of the 3 Newbery Honor books for 2008: The
Wednesday Wars, and Elijah of Buxton. Haven't been able to find Feathers by
Jacqueline Woodson yet but I'm still looking.

HTH, Carrie
