I agree,
The check and balance in place helps get higher quality books and catches human errors.

Hi Jamie,

I absolutely do not want submitters to validate their own
submissions. People are lazy, sometimes, and human always. The safeguard
of having someone else validate a submission other than the book's submitter
goes just that much further to making sure that as clean a copy of a book as
can be is put into the collection. I'd rather have to wait a couple of
weeks for a clean copy of a book than have a junky copy in the collection
sooner.

I understand that. Just wanting some list feedback which it appears I'm
getting. (smile)

Hi Jamie,

You would have to take this up with bookshare staff. Right now it is
against their policy.

If books can be placed into the collection in a timely manner, who cares who
gets credit? As I stated, I am not suggesting that anyone should receive $5
credit for one book. If I'm interested enough in a book to read it
thoroughly and I'm willing to fix errors as I go, why should I ask you to
take the time to validate a book you might not care in the least for. There
is nothing in this idea for the person scanning the book since they will get
the same amount of money for twice the work. There is a lot in this for
validators because the list of books on step one will diminish and we can
all see a little more progress with regards to the step one page. Case in
point: I scanned a book entitled Well-Intentioned Dragons ages ago and it's
still on step one. If it isn't a good enough scan, somebody please reject
the silly thing and get it off the site. If it's worth submitting, then
please someone validate the thing and get it off the site.

Interesting idea Jamie about letting a submitter validate his or her own
work.

This may lead in time to eliminating the work of validating altogether.

Just think how much money bookshare will save not having to give us
validators credit.

And we do so little too.
