At the school for the blind which I attended from age 6 to 18, we used to have braille reading contests. Who could read a page with the most gloves on? how many pieces of typing paper could be laid over a braille page before it was unintelligible? etc. etc.

We also had braille writing contests, like how many pages of braille paper could you emboss with a slate and stylus.
It got pretty boring at the school for the blind as you can tell.

Actually, yes.

We bought this really old house once. When we moved in, the windows were
horrible. In some places there were gaps between the windows and the wall
that were big enough for me to put my hand down into. We live in Michigan,
so as you can imagine, this ,made for a bitterly cold first winter. I was
working on my Ph.D. at the time, so had no choice but to just keep reading. There was one day I was so cold, that I decided to see if I could read with
gloves on. Didn't work so well! *grin*

I used to hate to read Braille in the winter time. Ever tried to read
with
gloves on?
