What a great theme. Unfortunately I¹ll be at a digital publishing conference
here in the Bay Area and won¹t be able to join you. But I love being part of
your community.

Take care,

Lisa

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

Since February 2002 Bookshare.org has been an online community that enables

people with visual and other print disabilities to legally share scanned

books. Surprisingly, though, everyone does not know that Bookshare.org gives

print disabled people in the United States

legal

access to over 32,600 books and 150 periodicals that are converted to

Braille, large

print or text to speech audio files. It seems appropriate, therefore, that

we should take a closer look at this unique collection during our third

live, interactive get together in the Bookshare Chat Room Tuesday, June 19

at 5:00 p.m. Pacific, 6:00 p.m. Mountain, 7:00 p.m. Central, 8:00 p.m.

Eastern and Wednesday 00:00 GMT.

To attend this event, all you need is a PC running Windows 2000 or later, an

Internet connection, a sound card, and speakers. A microphone will be needed

to allow you to interact audibly with each other. If, however, you do not

have a microphone, text chatting will be available.

To join the fun, click on the Bookshare Chat Room link on the Accessible

World Home page at:

http://www.accessibleworld.org <http://www.accessibleworld.org/>

or use the following direct link: http://tinyurl.com/2avczp

If this is the first time you have entered a Talking Communities chat room,

or the conference client has been updated, you will need to install and then

run the Talkcom software. It is very small and safe to install on your

computer.

When the installation is complete, return to the sign-in screen and select

the Enter Room button. Enter your first and last name, Leave the Password

field blank. tab to the log in button, and press Enter.

That's it. You will be in the chat room and can begin talking with others in

the room by pressing and holding down the Control key.

Don't hesitate to invite all your friends. Seating is unlimited. Also, stop

by the chat room anytime to visit with friends or get immediate answers to

Bookshare issues.

See you Tuesday, June 19!

This online live chat is entirely an activity of Bookshare volunteers but

the Benetech staff applauds the formation of this community and promises to

join us when their time permits.

The Bookshare Chat Room is sponsored by the Accessible World in partnership
