[bksvol-discuss] Re: books with less than excellent ratings

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to have each fair book checked by someone who wanted to read it. That is, leave the book on the list until someone discovers that it is indeed an unreadable book; thenk, if the reader wishes, request the right or search for someone else who will re-scan the book and replace it. I have used some high ranked books on the system which were quite poor; should we then keep only those rated excellent. I would sometimes, in the interest of research, rather have a poor copy of a books than no copy at all.

Actually, from my experience, Fair should more properly be read as Poor. Sorry, but that's just my feeling on it. I guess you can't have a Poor category, though. Who would want to read a book with that rating? However, truth in advertising demands it, I think.

By 'caveat' I was thinking more along the lines of giving people more details about what they may be in for if they download one of these Fair books. But I don't think that option should be taken away from people.

Evan,

Don't you think the designation of Fair is a caveat as
to quality? smile

Evan and Julie, and anyone else--if you're reading a
book from the collection that's missing words or parts
of sentences or a page, if you'll let me know the book
and if I can get it from the library I'd be happy to
tell you what's missing. Then you can correct it and
when enjoy the complete book and even, when you've
finished reading it, submit it as an improved copy.

Cindy

Perhaps Fair books
should come with some kind of caveat about their
quality, but I am
definitely not in favor of deleting them.
