Hi all,

When I hear about the Armenian genecide, what comes to my mind is a picture of my grandmother's living room and her crying as she watch the destruction of Beyrout Lebanon in the 70s and 80s, and the following picture is my mother, sitting in our own living room and talking to somebody about Lebanon.

"Oh, yes, Armenians know about Lebanon. Ask any Armenian you meet on the street and they will tell you. They will bless you, if they find out you're Lebanese," she said.

"Why?" asked her guest. "Because Lebanon was the *only* country, the *only* country who gave those people shelter at the time! And, this destruction is how they are repaid!"

It's a grim memory, yet it is sweet as well. Strange how history plays out. The little country who gave shelter to so many is virtually destroyed, a poor shadow of itself. Beyrout used to be called The Paris of the Mediterranean. <sigh> Ah, well, enough mourning and philosophizing for the day.
