Hi Larry,

It may be that the Office 365 update is the problem. Word can add weird page breaks that have different internal codes than the standard code Word uses for a hard page break.

Here's my best guess: I'm assuming that the chapter heading is the first line of text on the page, other than the page number (if there is a page number at the top of the page. Check the paragraph settings for the chapter heading, and for any lines previous to the chapter heading that start the page. You'll need to bring up the "paragraph settings" dialog box (which in my old version of Word is done with an alt o p keystroke sequence). It will have two tabs. The first tab is indents and spacing. The second tab is line and page breaks. In the second tab is a selection box for an option called "page break before." Make sure that box isn't checked. If it is checked, that will cause the problem that you are describing with Word adding in a strange page break and Jaws reporting it the way you're describing.

I am having a strange problem when paging books for Bookshare. When I get to a chapter heading, Jaws reports two page breaks. One of them is real and one seems to be bogus. When I use my right and left cursors to back and forth over them. The first one reports page break correctly and the one to the right reports blank like it should. I am using the latest jaws and the latest update of office 365. Susan says she’s getting the same issue using her computer.
