Really? You were told that? Funny that the rest of us were not. ISBNs, as far as I've heard, are not required. When did this change of policy take place, and why hasn't it been mentioned on the Volunteer list?

The number on the outside rear cover is the actual ISBN number. This verifies in site searches plus when entered as the metadata in BookShare, the correct title is returned. The placement of the ISBN on the rear outside cover is the only location for the number on the actual physical book. This book is a purchased book.I Recently received a note from BookShare that the ISBN number is required as part of the scan and must be on the copyright page when scanning a book. There are many books with ISBN numbers that may not conform to this requirement. Does this mean that these books are ineligible for BookShare?-KevinDate: Fri, 22 Nov 2013 15:55:46 -0800Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: ISBN only on outside of back cover of a book howFrom: Cindy Rosenthal <grandcyn77@xxxxxxxxx>Are you sure that was the ISBN number? I am thinking of sites like Amazon, Good Reads or Open Library. As to how to handle it when scanning, I don't know of any requirement that the ISBN be scanned. Just keep it on hand when submitting it to enter to get the metadata. For that matter, you don't even have to do that if you want to enter the metadata yourself. Do check the copyright page carefully though. It should be there, but it doesn't have to be.On Fri, Nov 22, 2013 at 1:20 PM, Kevin Fjelsted <kfjelsted@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:kfjelsted@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote: I scanned a book a while back in which the ISBN number was on the outside of the rear cover yet no where else listed within the book.
