hmmmmm, we prefer to use empty or full pop bottles, with water, smile, for targets of beebees, not books. sigh, a boot shouldn't be shot. that is great though, smile, the irony, smile. Shelley L. It is not enough to stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs. -- Vance Havner ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carrie Karnos" <ckarnos@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 26, 2005 2:09 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] at the Bookshare office Funny story: I'm at the Bookshare office, scanning books with the high-speed scanner. After a book has been despined, I usually ruffle the left-hand side to see if any of the pages are sticking together, in order to separate them before going into the scanner. I ruffled one book, and noticed that it had been shot thru its spine. Yes, there was a BB stuck in the book. I pulled out the BB (which had torn a lot of pages of course) and thought I'd try to scan the book anyway. The scanner was 1/4 of the way thru the book when another BB fell out. Because the book was old and fragile and its pages were torn, the scanner crumpled up several pages and tore a few pages in two. At this point, I gave up trying to scan it at all. Between the messed up pages and the torn pages, it would be a validation nightmare. The name of the book? Ellery Queen's Poetic Justice. The irony is all too blatant here :-) Carrie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
