Good point. She should look at one of them and find out what it's ASCII value is. If it is 145 or 146, then it is an opening or closing single quote. If it is 39, then it is the straight apostrophe.

Hi all,

I realize I'm a new volunteer, but judging from what happened when Let's Hear It For The Deaf Man was left with the "smart quotes" in it, I'd have to disagree with Jim's assertion that apostrophes should be left. I would find out from somebody sighted if those are actual apostrophes or if they are smart quotes. If they are smart quotes, they need to be changed post haste because they will not translate into Braille. Some word processors, notably Word, will *say* apostrophe for both the single quote and the smart quote.
