What I do in a case like that is not rate it adult but
in the long synopsis note that it has some swearing. I
also do that when a book is basically worthwhile but
has profanity or swearing or non-explicit by
suggestive sex or horror or torture as elements. Some
people on this list prefer not to read books with
things like that in them, but I don't think they
necessarily merit an Adult rating. It depends on how
much is there.
